LOFTS IN THE OLD TOWN OF TARTU

DUO Lofts are located in the Old Town of Tartu on the corner of the beloved Rüütli Street and Laia Street. The many sights and adored places of the university town lush in greenery are only a short walk away. Whether it is a workday or a holiday – a pleasant walk or a short bike ride will take you where you want to go!

Tartu Town Hall with an iconic monument of kissing students is one of Tartu’s most famous landmarks. It is also one of the most beautiful town halls, which is equally magnificent against the background of outdoor cafes open on a warm summer day and next to the winter ice rink. DUO is connected to the Town Hall by Rüütli Street, which is known for its cafés and restaurants and lively nightlife.

UNIVERSITY OF TARTU

The most visited buildings of the University of Tartu are both located only a few hundred meters from DUO. You can walk to the main building along the romantic Jaani Street – past the magnificent St. John’s Church. However, there is an even more exciting journey to the modern Delta research center – past the Botanical Garden and over the Freedom Bridge!

The university sports building is also located on the other side of the riverbank. Be it striving for personal sports achievements or cheering for your favorite team – you are there only in a matter of minutes!

RIVER EMAJÕGI AND TOOMEMÄGI

The River Emajõgi is so close to the DUO that it almost meanders past it. An exhilarating morning jog, a relaxing afternoon walk, or an evening meet-up with friends – the beautiful nature and beautiful bridges along the River Emajõgi are suitable for all of them.

Toomemägi, a beloved meeting place for students, enchants with its green slopes, beautiful views, and shady resting places. Here you will also find the powerful ruins of Tartu Cathedral, Tartu Observatory, and several monuments. From DUO, you can walk to Toomemägi Hill in exactly six minutes!

CULTURE AND COMMERCE

In addition to beautiful nature, the Old Town, and the university, Tartu is also known for its first Estonian-language theatre, Vanemuine. A powerful cultural symbol with a 150-year history attracts the city’s cultural enthusiasts throughout the year because up to fifteen new productions are staged here a year.

For shopping gourmets, however, Tartu offers lovely boutiques and well-known brands in the historic Kaubamaja, Tasku Center, and the new Kvartal Center. The shopper’s journey to commerce meanders pleasantly along Rüütli Street.
